Body Focus Bfit is passionate about health and fitness in all stages of life. Unfortunately as we get older, many people stop exercising and our fitness levels decrease significantly. However, keeping active is just as important, if not more, the older you get. Enda is an experienced personal trainer and specialises in fitness for seniors, with all levels of ability.


No matter how old you are, exercise can improve your quality of life. As in all stages of life, seniors need to engage in cardio, strength training, and flexibility exercises to stay healthy and maintain as much strength and functionality as possible. Many assume that loss of strength and muscle mass, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility and balance are a given with ageing. But this is not true. With regular exercise, and the right kind of exercise, not only can you prevent the loss of fitness but also improve it as you get older.


Regular exercise has tremendous benefits for seniors. It can reverse years of inactivity, reduce symptoms of medical conditions, improve mental health, and overall lead to a healthier lifestyle. Before embarking on a fitness programme as a senior it is important to consult your doctor, especially if you have any conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, or heart disease as there may be certain exercises that you cannot do. They will also be able to recommend the right kind of exercise for you, whether that be walking, yoga, weights, etc.

Many of our online exercise classes are tailored especially for seniors. We also provide personal training for seniors which will not only provide you with an effective workout plan but will give you the tools and knowledge to on how to workout safely.

Why is exercise important as we get older?

Exercise is important no matter age you are. Exercising at an older age can help reduce the symptoms of health conditions such as arthritis or osteoporosis. Not only does exercise keep you healthy physically, but it also keeps you healthy mentally. When you feel healthier, you look healthier and so when you look after your fitness properly you are youthful no matter what age you are.

I have limited mobility. Are classes suitable for me?

Our senior classes are designed to suit people of all abilities. For reduced mobility clients, our chair aerobics class offers a great workout while remaining seated. Just because you have limited mobility does not mean that you cannot exercise. If you have concerns please contact Enda directly and we can provide you with more information.

What will I need to participate in a class?

Our senior fitness classess are held online using Zoom. To participate in a class you will need a computer, laptop, or tablet device and access to the internet. There are no specific equipment requirements, just yourself and maybe and chair. You will also need to fill out and email a consent form before you will be allowed to participate. We also recommend consulting your doctor for advice.
